Thank you! I want to draw something every day, but because I am still very much in the learning stages, I am quite slow. I did another drawing tonight, it took me around two hours or thereabouts. Was going to be a 30 minute one, but got stuck into it and wanted to make it more presentable. But still, no colours. :0

Thank you. I am working on a more detailed piece, and really needed a break, so decided to do this.

The leaves in the tree looks really good for me

Thanks for checking it out!
I actually only painted the colours and blended them, I did the texture work by going through my personal stock of photos (taken when I've been on trips to various places) and then setting layer blending mode to overlay or soft light, then erasing the bits that I don't want.
Once I've learnt how to paint materials properly I might do it the slow and "proper" way.
I've also updated the picture slightly by adding a shadow near the tree, pushing back the background elements, and adding a few birds in the distant clouds.

I did four thumbnails last night, and for those interested, I was wondering if you'd like to see any of them taken to a more presentable level?
Here they are:

I did a terrible looking landscape a while back, and it really made me want to "fix" it. Here is effort no.2

That's gorgeous, Sammy. Keep sharing! I know you don't get a lot of feedback, but I know I for one love seeing your work.

Thank you! If my pictures help bring joy or a sense of wonder to even one person, then it makes me feel good too.

Thanks for the feedback.
The thing I didn't like was that I am still struggling to learn to draw clouds.
But in this next one I've made some progress (after many, many hours)....

I think John Smith meant this thread -
viewforum.php?f=63Here's one where I tried to finish by Good Friday but wasn't able to (due to my low skill level):

You've got a great style, I especially love the landscapes! I always struggle with those myself. Hope to see more of your work soon!

Hey Sundown, thanks for the feedback and have been super busy ... and it seems that after waiting all this time I have nothing good to share with you.
So ... you probably feel kinda cheated. :0
I did a random sketch the other day though... so hopefully that counts for something LOL.
And I also found my batch of really old, and really terrible drawings from when I was between nine to around 15.
Just be warned that they are really, really terrible, but I remember there was a sense of joy and freedom when I drew as a kid - that sense I could not really get from any other activities.
So, I am gonna share them with you too.
PS. You could probably tell that I was obsessed with Transformers and pseudo-Transformer robots as a kid.

Here is a sketch I did last night. I found out her shotgun shells were different sizes. May fix that up if I ever take the sketch to colour...
And this one is of a Transformers toy I have, LOL.

After spending many hours colouring my line art ... here is the result. The eyes by themselves took a lot of back and forth, although by the basic look of them you wouldn't be able to tell.

Late response, but it's so good to see sammy art! Love the ship, and of course Totoro is always a winner.

ClaecElric4God - thanks for the comment and sorry for not responding sooner! Have been busy with work, and helping my kid with homework, and helping with housework, etc.
Here are a couple of sci-fi ones ... they still lack the the kind of finesse and polish that the pros have, but overall I am starting to see a bit of potential and that if I practised like another 500 hours or so I will get to a better skill level.
I now feel I finally have a chance!
(at making the kind of art I think will bring joy to people)
