sasuke reading the Bible mascot

Postby Noblewreck » Sat Jun 30, 2007 8:23 pm

Khaki-Blue you're a thoughtful man. Sasuke is a cool dude. A chibi version of him (and I’ve seen a few online) would be a cute mascot (with non-copyright infringing variations, of course). I may try a sketch or two in that vain but no promises. I have an idea of my own I wont to finish and submit. Good luck. :thumb:
Your Brother in Christ,
Noblewreck.

P.S. I was thinking in the lines of "the-national-animal" (you know such as we have a state bird or state mammal here in the U.S.) But an online search seems to yield no "national" animal, though some perfectures have a symbolic animal but not the whole of Japan. Does anyone have an idea of a good mascot symbolic of Japan?

The red crane? I mean, you've got the famous origama bird from Japan, and also when I learned about Japan back in elementary school, the red crane came up a lot. It's a special bird to Japan, and it's endangered. In fact, I think I remember Soul Alive doing a really beautiful picture of a pair of red cranes which I saw on her Deviantart account. ^_^

Red Crane

Postby Noblewreck » Wed Jul 04, 2007 4:15 pm

Yes Photosoph, the red origami crane. I can see how that can be a symbol of Japan. But I think I like a mascot that is a little more chibi than a crane. But, yep, red crane origami does remind one of Japan. I may make a sketch of it as a challenge. That is to try to see if I can make a crane charactor in a chibi style. :thumb:

Hmm... well, I did mention origami; but I was thinking more of the original red crane bird that the origami model is based on. ~_^ A chibi one... yup, that could be a challenge. Or you could always go for something more graceful. *Shrugs* ^_^ Glad you like the idea.

Mascot contest

Postby Noblewreck » Sun Jul 22, 2007 7:40 pm

Heylo,. O:-)

After submitting a couple of mascot contest entries. ( Actually the second is a revision of the first.) Is there a formality to removing the first entry from the contest?

I suppose you could just go and "edit" the post, then remove your image. You can post a little edit message saying, "I'm removing this entry: see the one below instead, please." or something.

I don't think we've got anything more formal than that planned, though.

Sounds like a plan. I think I'll do that. Thanks Mithrandir.

KhakiBlueSocks wrote:You know, on my way to work, I came up with an idea for a mascott, but because I can't draw squat, and I would love to see it on paper, I'm putting it out there for use by any blessed and talented artist to do!

A ninja sitting by a riverbed with the sun setting reading his bible. He is barefoot with all his bandages (those odd things Sasuke wears) off his arms and legs. He looks worn, as though he completed a full day's worth of training, battling, what have you.

Like I said, I can't draw squat, so if you wanna take this idea on, have at it!

Khaki Blue I made a drawing of that today. What do you think?

It's great! It's almost just like I envisioned (I was thinking it would be in right justification, but that's cool too!) Sweet job! You gonna color it?

NW, just FYI: if he's not already posted in the Art Contest thread (link on pg 1) he needs to be; otherwise I might not remember to put him in the contest and that would be a shame!

How about "Kazuo"? It's Japanese for "Man of Peace".

Try to understand, some of us are pretty busy outside our web personas. I'm trying to get through this as fast as I can, but having grumpy attitudes isn't going to make it go any faster.

Dear Vernhal, perhaps grumpy isn't exactly the best descriptor here but I understand the frustration of not being able to kick out things online in a timely manner due to other personal matters. *cough*myneglectedwebmanga*cough* The results will come out eventually so meanwhile, we can distract ourselves with something else....
