Ok I have a question Id really like to start playing the guitar, but alot of people say that I should start with the piano. Is that true? Should I start playing the piano before I start playing the guitar? Does it matter? Id really like you input thanks. Love and peace!

It might not really matter, but it is nice to know where the notes are on written music, i find this easier on the piano than a stringed instrument, but it shouldn't make too much of a diference, i mean if ur gonna have to buy a piano, its not worth it.

I personally did play the piano before I picked up the guitar, but I did it cause my mom made me. I had no plans for playing the guitar then, but I ended up playing guitar anyway. I guess you could give piano a shot; it would sure be easier on your fingers. It also might make learning the notes on the guitar easier.

i've been playing piano for 12 years and i've gotten good at it, and i've been trying to pick up guitar for 4 years and i just can't. i dont think it really matters if you play piano first, it did nothing to help me except visualize what the chord i'm playing looks like on the piano, which really doesnt help unless you're telling someone who doesnt' know what they're doing on piano how to accompony or something...

You don't have to play piano first. The guitar is nothing like piano. You'll just have to learn the notes all over again.
My father is a very good guitar player but he can't read music. So, I suggest learning to read music. But piano isn't necessary. People are probably just telling you to play piano first because most people like to hear that more than the guitar.
