The Chat thing on this site says my account hasn't been verified and that i need to get to know people before I can use it. Is there some sort of number of posts I have to get to before I can use it, or is my account really unverified? Because I followed all the directions in the email I got... Maybe I'm just impatient but I prefer live chat over forums.

You have to have a certain number of posts before you can go into chat :P. EDIT: I am afraid I have long since forgotten this number, but a search reveals:
