I realize that I am a little late on the bandwagon, but does anyone here like Homestuck? what aspects do you like? what are you opinions on it? :)

Nope. None of it, cant get more than 10 'pages' in before I get bored and close my browser. I think it's overhyped and the fandom is dreadfully obnoxious.

oooh well to be totally honest the first about 1000 pages are a bore (some parts are funny) I just pushed hard to get past those pages and now its pretty amazing. So many characters and deep character development, and hilarious jokes :)

See I have several webcomics I follow that are well over 3000 pages... and were entertaining within the first 10. I don't really have the time to push through 1000 pages to get through to the good stuff.

I started reading Homestuck recently this year, and adore it! :D I'm so far behind though, I think I'm in act.. I wanna say 5? The characters are unique and the plot and everything, the hilarity, the drama, character development, it's just a great webcomic over all c:. It was hard to get into I admit, but once you push through it gets really interesting, I'm happy that someone here reads it. c:
"I believe...I want to live my life, carrying my memories with me. Even if those memories are painful, even if those memories do nothing but hurt me...Even those memories I wish I could forget...As long as I keep carrying them with me and don't run away from them. Someday...Someday, I believe I will get to the point where I'm not oppressed by those memories. That's what I want to believe. I'd like to think that there's not a single memory that I have which would be okay to forget." -Momiji Sohma - Fruits Basket

As Mech said, way over-hyped with a fanbase on par or worse than Sonic the Hedgehog. There are far more clever and interesting webcomics out there. But hey, if you like it, whatever. People have different tastes.

There was a time when I was terribly addicted to Homestuck. I was able to get through the first 3 acts within good time. However, something happened and I became lazy.

It's a phenomenal webcomic, but I need to be reinvigorated to continue it as I probably have still not gotten to the good stuff.

That said, Pogo hammers are awesome.

Yay! two people that like it :3 I'm happy there are a few fans here!

ADXC yeah it takes energy to read sometimes. There was one part around act 3 that I was kinda bored with honestly.

Wait, wait, 1000 pages?

Let's provide a basis for comparison: My favorite book is Les Miserables, which pushes 1200-1500 pages, depending on the printing. If there's one place where it's not so great, it is its pacing. Victor Hugo takes his sweet time to build a plot, and he loves to talk about Very Important Things that have nothing to do with that plot in the middle of the story - the main character doesn't even show up for the first hundred pages! But a thousand pages into Les Miz, big things are happening. The Friends of the ABC are making their stand, Valjean is scrambling to find Marius, etc., etc. Point is, a plot is in motion, and the conclusion is in sight.

Meanwhile, at a thousand pages into Homestuck (and long pages they are - from what I've seen of the later pages, sometimes the action happens in huge chatlogs, there's adventure games to play, and the like), according to your words, nothing really of note has happened. Now, I'm a patient reader. I love big, long, dense books filled with complex plots, and I can hold tight and pick forward as they develop. I also think that Hussie can put together a good story, as I've learned from Problem Sleuth. But to take the length of three lesser books to actually have things happen, that's reeeeeeeally pushing it.

I sadly never got into Homestuck, or many webcomics, really, but we do have quite a few fans here that come to conventions. Sadly, they receive pretty bad treatment, but I'm not sure why because they all are very nice and don't seem to go as crazy as some other fans of stuff. >_> (granted, the anime fans around here are pretty tame with only rare exceptions)
My only peeve with them is that the ones who aren't as careful when cosplaying characters from Homestuck mess up the hotel sinks with gray makeup/face paint (some of the characters have gray skin, I think???). But candy corn looking horns, though~

Dunno about your convention but the homestucks at the conventions I've been at have been fairly obnoxious, photobombing cosplay pictures and other rude things, clogging up the halls with sheer numbers, and having a bit of a reputation for taking over conventions. If thats how they behave at other conventions, the bias might be carrying over to your convention .

Its kinda sad that people judge it by the fans.....every fandom as bad fans and good fans :) right?

Oh, rest assured- I dislike the source material equally. To reiterate what I previously stated, it's fine if someone else enjoys it. That's what opinions are for. It does not however automatically make the comic "good"; a bad story is bad and a good story good irregardless of its fanbase.

Though that may be considered an opinion of my own. :eyebrow:

I'm unsure what you are responding to, Crossfire. XD; No one brought up whether Homestuck was good or not, nor does it matter. Some people like it and some people don't. We were talking about how a series is often judged by its fans (*coughMLPforexamplecough*). I also sometimes judge the mecha genre by its fans (no joke).

For the sake of people who do actually like Homestuck, it would probably be best to avoid this thread if you don't like the comic. In fact, I encourage it.

"Mecha" is a pretty wide subject to make such a sweeping generalization, though.

Gundam fans are seriously better than Macross fans in every way though. I mean, there really is no comparison.

I don't think anything should be judged by the fan base, you should like it for the sake of it or not like it. Anyway I wont apologize for liking it :) I think personally love the characters and the back ground on them, and thats okay for me. I get that not everyone will like it but I don't see why all the negativism.
