Has anyone here read Aishituze Baby? The story seems appealing to me, but I'm a little weary of the PG-13 rating on the back cover. I looked for a review on the site, but there doesn't appear to be any for it.

Could anyone please tell me what content is in it just to be extra safe? Thank you very much.

Aishiteruze Baby review

You probably couldn't find it because it's listed as "I Love Ya Baby".
Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about reading Aishiteruze Baby. It is a pretty-clean, cute story. Most manga are rated T.(even when they don't deserve a T rating)

Oh well. Thank you very much for the link! I'll definitely have to be ready for some parts apparently, but I think I'll really like it.

Oh, and thank you again! I really appreciated the help.

I'm tempted to say FullMetal Alchemist, but on the condition that you read the first two volumes in full before you pass judgement. You'll see why after the fact.

As a small side note, though, FMA does contain a little nudity, however this both rare and general purposeful (not fanservice), and in the context of the scenes makes sense.

Volume 13 and 14. Just two scenes in those two volumes respectively. Both situations are undetailed and fairly hidden.

Really, what you may have more of a problem with is that in the first chapter, one of the main characters says a line that can be seen as anti-religion, but reading through the Manga it becomes aparant that this character is more wrestling with the concept, and just being stubborn about it.

I don't recall any nudity in FMA. What instances are you referring to?

might i add the scene where
Lieutenant Hawkeye is shown after she finishes taking a shower in chapter 57. her backside is shown (she's wearing a pair a pants so it's from the waist up) and the scene is meant to reveal an important plot device.
technically, it's not nudity, but i still believe that it somewhat worth mentioning.

anyways, MacGyver, you could try the soccer manga, Whistle! if you want. the manga is very clean. no nudity. i believe there's only like one or two mild swear words early on. there's also very little violence as the manga revolves around soccer. the story and characters are surprisingly realistic and the manga is very good. it gets quite interesting later on in the series.

If sports manga are your thing, there are plenty of those (and they do have the advantage of rarely being excessively violent or having sexual content). Eyeshield21 and Prince of Tennis are both similar titles, but I can't personally recommend either.

well, i believe that i can recommend both mangas. Prince of Tennis is pretty clean but the main character's dad is a porno addict. some of the magazine's he looks at are shown to the readers but the pictures aren't detailed and it's not full-frontal nudity. it's more like...swimsuit-style nudity. some mild profanities at the beginning of the series; they die down later on. Eyeshield 21's got some crude humor and innuendo. there's also some rear male nudity in the first and third volumes. there are some suggestive situations, but all-in-all, the series is somewhat clean. swearing mainly includes d*mn but that's about it. both series are pretty good. i especially like Eyeshield 21. it's got great humor, characters, football action, and an interestingly original storyline.

hey guys, i'm looking for a good, solid adventure series with lots of nice action. content doesn't really matter to me as long as the series isn't blasphemous and doesn't have very much nudity or sexual content (it'd be nice if there was none, or next to no nudity). as for violence, i can handle almost any but it would be better if it wasn't overtly extreme (I.E. - berserk, gantz, ect...) language isn't an issue either. umm, here are some manga series that i've read and enjoyed, or not enjoyed:

Enjoyed:
Hunter x Hunter
Black Cat
Bleach
Fullmetal Alchemist
Blade of Immortal
Yu Yu Hakusho

Did not:
Rurouni Kenshin
Naruto
Trigun

Hmmm..... maybe Flame of Recca, Cowboy Bebop, or MAR might be good for you....personally, I read more shojo and adult comedy. Try those.

If you don't mind something very much in the same mode as Blade of the Immortal, try Vagabond. Slightly less intense as far as violence goes, I'd say, and similar sexual content.

Also, what specifically didn't you like about Naruto and Rurouni Kenshin? Depending on what you want in a shonen title, MAR may or may not be a good choice. Personally I didn't like it immensely.

good question. well, for naruto, i thought it was a pretty good series until the three-year time span took place. things just weren't as interesting and i slowly began to lose interest in the series. it became way too much like DBZ (train and learn new moves, go fight, move on and train some more, learn more special moves, fight the new bad guy...), and many of the new characters weren't as well thought of as i earlier. the plot became less engaging and i simply gave up on the series.

as for rurouni kenshin, i read the first...say half of the series but stopped around volume 15 or so. (i took the following paragraphs from another thread where i had posted why i did not like the manga. i apologize if it may go in a little too deep).

kenshin (the actual character) is a total airhead. in the first couple of volumes, he acts totally dumb with his unusual "third-person-point-of-view", then when he gets mad or fights, he changes into some super strong swordsman. his personality is just plain annoying. the main heroine (kaoru) is simply a liability. she always needs to be saved or gets in the way of fights. Her entire appearance in the manga is seriously quite meaningless. she's also annoying because she’s always getting into fights with that little boy (forgot his name), and displays a pretty pitiable form of maturity in doing so. her only role in the manga is to help the author provide readers with a pathetically vague romance between her and kenshin that further ruins the series. as for that little boy he's not so bad, as the author develops him quite a bit through the series. but even so, his independent personality and rude attitude doesn't do much to help the story, as all it did on my half, was irritate the heck out of me. as for sanosuke, he's pretty cool (actually one of the two characters that I actually thought was decent). nothing much to complain about him.
the story itself is about a killer turned wandering samurai who ends up fighting against a group of revolutionist led by some wierd bandaged guy who can burn things for some reason (at least the story for half of the series. sorry but i didn't read the other half...).
it doesn't sound all that bad to me, but i just don't like the story. it bores me in a way. it might be the author's attempt to mix historical facts into the manga that annoyed me. some of the battles are pretty pointless two. It’s like two hits and the enemy goes down. Like, the author sets it all up so the enemy’s some strong guy famous for killing a certain amount of people, or doing something great, and then, this same guy that’s so well-known gets his butt whooped by kenshin or some other guy in like two seconds. Finally, kenshin has inhuman endurance and can live after being cut like a thousand times. He never goes down or even gets knocked out. He always comes back and it totally destroys the realism of the manga.

these reasons aren't meant to spark argument or whatnot, but simply to justify why i do not really like either of these two series...

Hi. I'd like a recommendation on a manga. I'm interested in something with a little romance, little sexual content/nudity (I'll go as far as swimsuits), very little or no magic, moderate language (like the 'd' and 'h' words; the stuff in Azumanga) and little blood. (Comedy would also be appreciated). Thank you for your help. (I also like semi-realistic stories)

(Also, in terms of magic, since I was asked before what specifically bothers me before, I'll post it here:
"stuff like witchcraft, with (good) characters using spells (I'm guessing what Raven says is a mantra and not a spell, because to the best of my knowledge, spells are supposed to do different things, not be "multipurpose"; and she even says it when she's meditating, so...), drawing magic symbols, vampirism, and worshipping anything evil, specifically demons and stuff. I tend to get analytical, so most often I try to figure out where the source of some character's powers are, which is often a problem, but I can't exactly help it. Also, anything Harry Potterish bothers me, like putting a heavy emphasis on learning witchcraft and that magic is the only thing that matters...yeah. I hope that helps.")

Oh, yeah. And I've read Azumanga Daioh, Yotsuba&!, and the first book of Angelic Layer.

AsianBlossom, I would recommend Baby and Me. It's a very cute story about a boy who has to take care of his younger brother after his mother dies. Very clean and cute. Other than that I can't really think of anything.

Princess Zelda, I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest you give Mushishi a quick browse, though as it Del Ray Manga seems to be hinting on a slow release, you'll be back (in this thread) in less than a week.

You might like Penguin Brothers, although it's available by scanlation only.

Another you might like is Millenium Snow and Black Cat. Neither are too high in objectionable content(although the latter has a panel showing a woman's posterior) and they seem to match your tastes.

Oh, and Rurouni Kenshin is another you might like.

jon_jinn: I see. In that case, try MAR. I can't gaurantee you'll like it, but I'm not certain that you won't. You'll probably know pretty quickly (the plot is fairly linear).

I second Mushishi. Otherwise, if you want more of the same, the obvious suggestions following Naruto are Bleach and One Piece. The former is in my opinion better (as far as plot goes, at least) and the latter has more comedy, if that gives you any indication.

Princess Zelda, try out both Bleach and One Piece. You MIGHT want to consider
Hunter x Hunter, if you are willing to put some strong violence. i'd also like to make a random recommendation for the soccar manga, Whistle!

"All of Christian life is ceaseless worship of God the Father, through the mediatorship of God the Son, by the indwelling power of God the Spirit, doing what God commands in Scripture, not doing what God forbids in Scripture, in culturally contextualized ways, for the furtherance of the Gospel, when both gathered for adoration, and scattered for action, in joyous response to God's glorious grace."
- Mark Driscoll

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."
- Martin Luther

"I have to tell you first that I am ready to die. I have put my affairs in order. Your supreme weapon is killing. My supreme weapon is dying, because when you kill me, people all over Romania will read my books and believe on the God that I preach - even more than they do now."
- Dr. Joseph Ton, the exiled Romanian pastor (quoted by James Montgomery Boice)

"The best prayer I ever prayed had enough sin in it to condemn the whole world."
- John Bunyan

"If the Christian has lost sight of Calvary, that shows that he has lost his way."

Thanks! I really don't like the art in One Piece, though, so I'll probably never read it. XD But I'll check out Bleach.

art shouldn't really hinder you from trying out a series. especially since one piece's art is so vividly detailed and creative.

However as manga is telling a story through art it is just a little important. Personal opinion jon jinn, people don't always like the same things.
My Website [online comic]

Do you find your self worried alot of the time about things that don't always make sense?

Are you experiencing any of these?
• Persistent feelings of sadness, irritability or anxiety
• Overreaction to irritations
• Loss of interest in activities previously enjoyed,
• Sleep too much, or sleep too little
• Unexpected loss or gain of weight
• Tiredness or restlessness
• Slowed movement, thought and/or speech
• Guilt, low self-esteem, feelings of worthlessness
• Inability to concentrate and poor memory
• Loss of motivation
• Feelings of hopelessness
• Suicidal thoughts and/or behavior
• Withdrawal from relationships, anti-social behavior
• Physical aches and pains that seem to have no other cause

If you have a few of the symptoms on this list, you may be suffering from a form of clinical depression there are many sites that offer advice and help.

I know the normal process here is, person asks for a recommendation, others offer ideas. But, I want to recommend a manga I just finished for the second time.

The first time was in scanlation. Now, it is available in legal form, so I bought it and love it all the more.

"Mushishi" is a good read for anyone who likes supernatural stories that aren't 'ghost' or 'horror' stories, and aren't hero-battling-the-demons stories either. This is a very thoughtful work, very gentle, with remarkably human characters and life-like artwork, both in the characters and the backgrounds.

I'm seriously having trouble thinking of anything to compare it to. Maybe 'Blackjack', but that's a very weak comparison. To tell you the truth, even though it is based in Japanese folklore rather than Christianity, it more resembles TV shows like 'Touched by an Angel' or 'Highway to Heaven' than anything I've seen come out of Japan. Not that the main character is any sort of angel, though. He's basically a traveling spiritualist, drifting from town to town helping people who are afflicted by supernatural problems.

My kids haven't tried reading it yet. My bet is, my pre-teen won't like it and my teenager might. This is going to appeal to adults more. There isn't any 'adult content' at all, but it's just that the nature of the stories is more grown-up than most manga.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

Largo: "Well Ed, good to see ya. Guess I gotta beat the crap out of you now."

Jamie Hyneman: "It's just another lovely day at the bomb range. Birds are singing, rabbits are hopping about, and soon there's going to be a big explosion."

I actually just ordered the first volume of Mushishi, because I thought it looked interesting. I'm glad to see that you recommend it!
Quick question. You've finished it, right? How many volumes are there in this series? I only spotted three out right now.

I haven't finished, because they haven't all been scanlated. It's 8 volumes so far, and runs in the monthly magazine "Afternoon". I think what I've previously read are portions of the first three volumes. I've currently got the legal Volume 1, and I've got a copy of Volume 2 on preorder right now. Volume 3 is scheduled for early next year. I assume by the time 3 is out, they'll have pub dates scheduled for more.

The series is 8+ volumes currently, and still running in Japan. Fortunately, it has a very calm, casual, meandering pace (in a good way), so being patient for future volumes comes easily.
