Yes, it is.

I remember when I didn't understand why you were so into mewithoutYou.
I plainly hated the vocals.

Now?
"Catch For Us the Foxes" is one my top 10 list of GREATEST albums of all freakin' time.

I understand music interest isn't run by choice, but I just naturally like Protest the Hero.
Their one flaw was that there wasn't enough screaming because his screaming was so good when it was used an equal amount with his singing.

The new album is much heavier and melodic at the same time.

If you don't like it, it's just not your thing I suppose.

Not to mention, NO ONE I have ever met can understand why Between the Buried and Me is my favorite band.
I'm used to that fact.
No one else can get into them as much as me.

Yes Protest is cheesy but i mean honestly I really don't care they still can play the guitar like they are from the 80's. I mean I listen to all extremes of cheesyness from Protest to Hellogoodbye so well if wanna call it gay its your call i like em and honestly thats all that matters to me.

I've only been into metal for about a year and a half now, and therefor I haven't heard as much as I would like. So anyway, here goes:

Favorite Metal Band: This one is a tie between Skillit and Haste The Day.
Favorite type of metal: Though I've heard practically none, Tolkien metal.
favorite metal album: Comatose - Skillit
top 3 favorite metal songs of all time: Whispers in the Dark - Skillit, Learn to Breath - Thousand Foot Krutch, & Let Go - RED
favorite music website: Jesus Freak Hideout

Yeah, I like Haste the Day.
They're pretty generic and unoriginal, but they have songs I grew up with.
"When Everything Falls," "Blue 42," "Who We Are," ect.

Skillet...
I'd call them Hard Rock at most.
I would not consider Comtose a Metal album.

There are too many to count, but I would have to say my Metal album of 07 at least was Btbam's "Colors."

I hate Trivium.
I haven't heard Firelight.

Overall, Metalcore started out as a good genre, but now it's just associated with unoriginality.

Converge and Botch started the sound and most bands have either copied the sounds of those two or have added unnesscary emo elements.

So yeah, these days I hate Metalcore.

How about Emmure? Parkway Drive? August Burns Red? Destroy the Runner? Haste the Day?
There are actually quite a few exceptions, but as for the overall genre, it has crumbled.

I actually heard a kid listen to Botch saying he thinks they copied Norma Jean.

Botch did "define" the genera but not as many people know of Botch as norma Jean. People know Norma Jean because of the warped tour and Hot topic, so they got alot more converage than Botch did back in there prime.

People know about Norma Jean because scene kids gobble up their albums.
Scene kids don't like Botch.

Not to say I don't like Norma Jean.
They aren't anything above average like The Chariot, but they don't deserve the recognition.

exactly Tom. I actually think Norma Jean is one of the best just for the spastic nature of there song structure. I Have personally never listened to Botch so yeah. I think Chariot and Norma Jean are basically the same, Corey does not have the vocal range of Josh scrogan but musically (other than the weirdly cool choir parts on fiance) they about in the same catagory to me.

I disagree.

Norma Jean has taken a different route.
I see similarities between The Chariot and Norma Jean, but just as much as between The Devil Wears Prada and Mortal Treason.

Corey has a COMPLETELY different style.
It seemed like he was trying to imitate Scogey in "O God the Aftermath" but revealed his own awesome style in "Redeemer."

And the concert sucked. Once nothing wasn't there and the venue was like a giant tin can so it sound terrible that and the mic was like all staticy a 12 year old could sound hardcore on it. *shrugs* I'll hopefully get to see life in your way and Oh sleeper somewhere else that is better

I gotta agree XD. It wasn't that Oh,sleeper was bad it just was to distorted by the mic. The two opening bands (local bands) were pretty much horrid XD

Where I'm from, there are a surprisingly large amount of good local bands.
It blows me away.
(And a surprisingly large amount of awful bands as well.)

Bad show, good bands, I getcha.

That happened to me with LIFE IN YOUR WAY when they played down the street from my house (literally).
The mic was distorted, but they were still the best out of all the bands there.

It amazes me to this day they weren't the headlining band that night. XD
The Homefront was.
I love The Homefront but they're more of a "We-love-them-because-we-watched-them-become something-big" band.

I find the lack of death and black metal on this page disappointing.:(

Defeated Sanity
Hail of Bullets
Soils of Fate
Decrepit Birth
Funebrarum
Severe Torture
Abominable Putridity
Prostitute Disfigurement
Hacksaw to the Throat
Fractal Point
Pitbulls in the Nursery
Abysmal Torment
Cenotaph
Cannibal Corpse (too many people overlook them just because they are one of the few more popular death metal bands, but they are actually very good and the riffing is quite technical, I'd recommend starting off listening to Kill, their newest cd)

Behexen
Averse Sefira
Weakling
Mortuus
Glorior Belli
Bishop of Hexen
Lunar Aurora
Reverence
Krohm
Twilight
Breath of Sorrows
Marduk

Actually you are quite right about the technical aspect of it they are very good but i don't listen to them because of the nasty lyrics and images.

Here's an instrumental video of Cannibal Corpse - Frantic Disembowelment.

This one is absolutely hilarious. (not an official one)

Gotta have a lot of respect for them not compromising their music in spite of their popularity, which (aside from tons of touring) they mainly really got from being in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and from various politicians trying to censor their music and album art.

Dimmu has some amazing drumming. There new drummer is rumoured to be even better than there old one (his name escapes me he's Cradle of Filths old drummer)

Also Tom if you like Dimmu look up Old man Child. Its a side project from Dimmu's guitarist

The only Dimmu Borgir I enjoy at all is the original release of Stormblast, and it is only decent. I haven't bothered listening to Behemoth's black metal releases yet; I have heard mixed things about them.

Old Man's Child is pretty boring.
