Leaving CAA For A Bit? Coming Back? Post Here!

Postby Stephen » Mon Dec 12, 2005 12:12 am

Ok guys. We (the staff) have noticed a real surge of "I am leaving for a week" "I am leaving for the weekend" Threads. And while we really do understand the need for letting people know when your gone...they clutter the boards. Our solution? A single thread...where people post when they are taking breaks. What we do ask...is that people keep the spam posts to none. An example would be....I write, hey guys...I am leaving for a week...and 14 people say "ok" or "have fun" These comments would be better suited for PM anyway. So expect this thread to be well pruned for fluff comments. Threads made outside of this thread will be deleted. Sorry if that sounds mean or cruel...but we really want to keep things ship shape around here. Any questions can be directed to me, or any of the staffers for that matter. Thank you, and I hope everyone is having an awesome week.

I forgot to mention. When you get back, post on here. Do not start another thread saying "I am back like whut" As far as the 2 or 3 threads we have going at the moment...they can run there course. But as of now, new going away or coming back posts will go here. Or face a cruel fate at the Sarlacc Pit.

I must apologize to Doubleshadow. I just flubbed up and deleted more posts then I intended to from this thread. Accidental overkill pruning. Somehow...an awesome member on CAA had a window open with her post in it. This is how it reads..

Doubleshadow wrote:Oh my. I may be making the first relevant, non-moderator placed post. To those of you who would be concerned (and need to clean out your pm boxes, otherwise I would contact you that way), I'll be away until next semester starts the second week of January as of tommorrow.

For those who've missed it, I'm back after a while off for my exams. I've now completely finished High School, which is a.. weird but good feeling for me.

Thanks to Eso, TD, Termyt, Warrior4Christ, LQ, Swordguy, Piloscribs, Aka-chan, Anna-Mae and Meboeck for their welcome back. I so appreciate your amazing warmth.

I will be gone for a day or two, and then probably not as active for a bit. This is because I am about to take a car ride half-way across the US, in weather that looks like it will be snowey. Whoopee. When I do reach home, I will not have acess to the internet as readily as I do here so thats that I suppose.

P.S. I was wondering when a thread like this was going to appear, it is well overdue.

I'm in almost the same boat as Scribs, so I doubt that I'll post even once until the evening of January 15. I wonder how the forums will look upon my return. Sayonara.

Why must we be abandoned in times of need?
Do others not see when we yearn for their touch;
An insatiable hunger only they can feed.
Left alone with out their words – fallen into darkness.
Stumbling blindly without their light,
We fall and scream, knowing we've faced too much,
Knowing the only answer is flight.
Flight from the lives we once faced
And the joys and terrors others have brought.
Our time with them, a time of joy and life,
Wonder we all, was it for naught?

I will be gone for 3 days at a winter retreat with my youth group so peace out

*comes in and drops conspicuous hints about being going until some time Thursday*
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.
