Brief Description: In the year 2019, thirty-one years have passed since the outbreak of World War III. In Neo-Tokyo, all authority is waging a never-ending struggle against the underground that virtually rules the shattered city. Akira had very high-quality animation, especially for its time, and I admired that. But I found that between the extreme gore and the depressing plot of the show, I did not enjoy it nearly as much as its status as a classic led me to believe. The plot is also somewhat problematic from a religious perspective, but this movie is rated 18+, and if the excessive bloodiness and body horror don't bother you, I don't expect the religious problems will either. |
