Review Alien Nine is an anime OVA that is about a girl named Yuri is dragged into fighting aliens and protecting her school. That sounds pretty simple, right? That is where the simplicity ends. These girls who are just in elementary school, face serious psychological drama and problems at the same time. It becomes evident just how messed up these girls become by the third episode. There is a huge tease at the end about what happens to the girls and this OVA is open-ended. You will need to read the manga to see what happens later.

Violence Details: In addition to the psychological drama that happens to the girls, there is some gore and blood when it comes to them fighting the aliens that attack the school. The aliens' blood is not red, it is green and thus I did not give the Violence setting higher.

Language:

Not much, just in the realm of the D Word and H word.

Nudity:
The girls are shown nude when the borgs feed off their back and when they are in the locker room they are topless, but only their back is shown. And by the end of the show it is shown that Kasumi runs in the nude. It is un-detailed and the most you see is the girl's rear end.

Sexual: There is a close relationship that occurs between two of the girls and people might confuse it as girl's love [Shoujo-ai]

Religious: There is some symbolism that might be offensive to some viewers, but it is in small amounts.

Review
Black Lagoon is the distillation of every Hollywood action flick ever made and then it is cranked up to the eleven, and at the same time is interspersed with philosophy, and contains numerous homages to other media (war films, Yakuza films) and contains amazingly surprisingly mature subjects such as terrorism and child abuse. And it has a cast like a Tarantino film, and unlike so much of modern anime, it actually has strong and competent female characters who don't break down all the time and need a male shoulder to cry on, and at the same time this anime contains over-the-top hilarious moments and at the same time features moments more mature than ten dozen Claymores and Narutos [with it constantly throwing at you info about the cold and harsh facts of life and shows the cruel reality of life behind the scenes in the underworld]...that and it is full of the single best gun-fights in the world of anime. As always, the awesome Madhouse Studios does not hold back on the budget and uses perfect and excellent use of music and lighting and backgrounds to make your blood boil and feel the action yourself. And not only that, but it is also a parody of itself at the same time hen all the above is happening. It makes fun of the action cliches that appear in action movies/anime series and thus provides a feeling of self-criticism that makes it a very honest series.

The characters are awesome in this series, besides their bada** ways and firing away bullets left and right, cursing, laughing maniacally in the face of the enemy, they also have a softer side and all of them get fleshed out in the course of the entire series. It is the perfect action series.
In order to make sure that the most amount of money is spent on this series, they divided the Black Lagoon anime into 3 seasons. The first season is the lightest of the three seasons, as it does not contain all of the mature themes that appear in the second season, and not contain the pure insanity of the Black Lagoon: Roberta`s Blood Trail OVA. It is just the introduction to the world to come...
[Edit: There is also the Comedy Omake Series, but that is not connected with the main Black Lagoon and has rather dark jokes.]

One thing I must say is that if you ever want to watch this series, it is a sin to watch it subbed. You Must Watch It Dubbed, in English. In fact, the only show that I liked the dub more than the sub was Black Lagoon but that wasn't because of the "exceptional" english voice actors but because the dubbed version focused a lot more on funny swearing moments. However, if you watch it subbed, you have to listen to the rather bad Japanese attempts at speaking English. And ask yourself: Would a women from New York speak Japanese while gunning down Nazis? I am talking of Revy, the best anime action girl ever. She is the female version of Chuck Norris and she has an amazing personalty and a rather great background history and is shown to us in the anime and in the manga.

And now, I will do the Content Rating in each category:

Violence/Gore: In the course of the show, there is rather extreme violence.
But it never gets to guts coming out of bodies, instead: Think more of people getting gunned down and blood is spraying out of their bodies, also when they get stabbed the show shows the sword or axe in their body and the people who have it inside of them try to get it out...so if you are at all squeamish about blood, you might want to stay away.

Nudity/Sexual Content: In the First Season, there is some fan-service and several characters are implied to have shadowy sexual histories.

Profanity: In the course of the show, the F word gets said a total of 259 times, and this is only counting the two seasons. So an average of 11 F Words per episode in the two seasons. Everything else that is profanity gets said to.

Negative and theological themes: Every single adult character in this show smokes...a lot. Also, there is a Church of Violence that is a Roman Catholic Church that is apart of the Criminal Underworld.
Cat Soup (Jump to title)

Review Cat Soup is a very unique anime. It is a One episode OVA and I have to say that it is very beautiful in a very twisted way. There is a much deeper underlying meaning that may take several viewings to grasp. Personally, I believe that the moral and story of Cat Soup is just how far would you go for someone you love. In Cat Soup, it is simple; you run after death and go to the ends of the Earth.

Violence: While it is unrealistic, there is a bit of violence in this anime. For example, in one scene a woman is sawed into little chunks with a giant buzz saw and then sent flying around the room, spattering the main
characters with blood. She is however later put back together as part of a magic act. One of the main characters has their arm bitten off and then reattached, etc. While not realistic, the violence is might be highly
disturbing for viewers below the age of 16. Also, a man ties a bird to a table, so it can only fly around it circles. He then proceeds to light
the bird on fire. Also, when the cats are in a boat, they proceed to cut up a pig while it is still alive.

Language Details:

Zero

Nudity:

There are pictures of a naked women seen on some walls, there is a man that attacks the two cats while wherein a leather outfit that is somewhat sexual in nature. And there is a a time scene in which a woman can be
seen aging from childhood to old age.

Religious: The entire anime is about a brother trying to save the soul of his sister that was ripped in two. There is also a scene in which a being [who is assumably God] does some stuff that includes changing the laws of time, and he later puts the Earth on a plate and it is assumed that he eats it.

Review The Reason why I rated this Short Film as 14+ is because I believe that younger viewers would certainly be disturbed by the surreal design of the Creatures. Other than that and some intense bloodless fighting and two instances of the D word: I find nothing else wrong with this Very Excellent Short Anime Film.

Review (mod note: Main content of review removed until further notice for copyright infringement.) As for Objectionable Content: Violence Details It is Digimon, there is of course going to be some kiddish fighting. Nudity Details Well, when they are inside some of the Biomerged Digimon, they are not wearing anything but nothing at all is shown, there is really nothing objectable in the way that it is done Religious Material Details There is talk of the Zodic, one of the characters goes to a shine, and there is talk of the Big Bang in the later episodes. Language Details None.

Review
Ga-Rei Zero is an animated prequel to the manga Ga Rei, and this animated series was directed by Ei Aoki [Also known for directing such works as the First Kara no Kyoukai Movie and the animated series of Fate/Zero], scripted by Katsuhiko Takayama [Also known for working on such works as the Natsu no Arashi! anime series and the first Fullmetal Alchemist animated series] and was animated by AIC Spirits and Asread studios back in 2008. [And I have to say that this series is the best anime that both studios made in their run.] Like the before mentioned Kara no Kyoukai series, this anime runs in non- chronological order and also begins with a medias in res first episode. The First episode is one of the bloodiest in the whole series Spoiler: with human limbs being cut off and one character committing suicide while being controlled by an entity and lots of people dying in cruel manners. After that bloody first episode, the series goes into the lives of the main cast members and their war against supernatural monsters that cannot be defeated by normal means. The entire series centers on two characters of the main crew, Isayama Yomi and Tsuchimiya Kagura. One thing that must be noted before I go on is the relationship between the two main female characters. In this series, they share a very close bond with each other, and sadly there are some anime fans who have called this very close bond a Shoujo-Ai relationship. This is un-true and unfounded. There is nothing in this series that is close to that, there is one kiss that occurs between the two female characters in the infamous pokey scene, that scene was pretty funny if you ask me and their “love” in the series never goes beyond sisterly love and one of them even has a fiancé, in fact in the series they call each other sisters. So don’t listen to people who say that there are “Yuri shenanigans” in this series. Throughout the series, there is violence and gore in the form of the monsters being cut into pieces and people getting impaled and cut and there is a lot of blood in this series.
If you are concerned with nudity: There is a scene in episode 4 of Yomi and Kagura bathing that lasts from 12:22 to 13:23. This scene adds to the bond between them and this scene of nudity is not fan-service in nature but if uncomfortable with female breasts being exposed, then you may skip this scene. There is also a scene at the end of episode 9 when there is a bit of skin shown from Yomi and there is rear-side nudity, but nothing is shown.
In terms of religious content: There is some Japanese Shintoism and there is use of holy water in order to defeat the monsters in this series. Said holy water is created from said Shintoism and there is some exorcism, but this series is far from a simple Shinto exorcism tale.
On to the subject of swearing and other small matters:
There is a some swearing that occurs in this series, but it never gets extreme. It stays within the realm of d*** and h*** and a** and the amount of profanity in this series is quite minimal compared to other action series that are targeted towards an older audience. And there is some smoking that occurs, but it is a very rare thing in this show.

If you are comfortable with the content that I just listed, I recommend this series. It is a well-made and well-done action series with great character development. Also, this series is very re-watchable and it is enjoyable and impressive every time you re-watch it, which is quite an achievement.

Review This is a rare and obscure anime, but is well worth watching. It is divided into two parts: The First Part is clean, the only thing that should be noted is death of animals. The second part is clean of everything until the last minutes...when there is a person smoking and says a slang word for a detective, but it is not dirty in context and the same person talks a bit about a Goddess, but other than that: It is clean and a very great OVA if you find it.
Other activities: 1 records found.
