Review Ratings Details:

Violence:
There is some violence in this series, though it is central to the plot:

spoilerOne of the main characters in the series is shown being beaten until scars form. This scene is repeated from time to time for dramatic effect.

Nudity:
This series is what one might call a typical "harem anime." As such, the fan service tends to be higher in this title than it might otherwise be. The opening credits show a main character nude. The series also has "bath scene" service as well as the typical harem inappropriate accidental groping futon sharing (though the later is mostly tame).

Review Review Details:

Violence:
As a space western, you could arguably classify this title as a gunslinger title, so you're going to have a decent bit of violence. It's not typically over-done, but it is there and there's a good bit of it.

Nudity:
Most nudity in the series is blurred, with one very brief (less that 1 second) exception. There are also a few scenes involving homosexual relationships, but these are not central to the plot.

Potentially Problematic Theology:
One of the main characters is a martial arts expert, so there's a bit of eastern religion in his dialogue. There is also an episode that revolves around a cult. While this might be inappropriate for some younger viewers, I would hope parents would note the age rating on this title is 17.

Other Negative Themes:
Cowboy Bebop is pretty much a film noir title. As such, the series may get a little dark from time to time. From a DAT perspective, one of the main characters is a chain smoker. There is also a bit of drug use and drinking.

Other notes:
CB has some great music, if you're into jazz.

Review When I first picked up K-On!, I had no idea what I was getting into. It was a popular title on the board, so I figured I should watch it. Boy did I hit the jackpot on this one - it's far and away one of the best titles I've ever seen. The music is spectacular (Check out the Wikipedia entry - some of the music from this series topped the charts in Japan despite being "studio band" music), the dialogue is great, the characters are believable, and the plot is outstanding.

If you enjoy "slice of life" series of if you've ever played in a band, then there's no avoiding it; this is a MUST SEE series.

Ratings Details:

Violence:
I gave this series a "2" in violence only because one of the characters bops the others from time to time for being stupid. It's not actually violent, but some parents may want to be aware, if their kids imitate that kind of thing.

Nudity:
I gave this series a "2" only because one of the characters sometimes gets starry-eyed whenever she sees two girls in close proximity - however...

spoilerIt's pretty clear from the series that this character is reacting this way because she's led an extremely sheltered life. For example, she also reacts similarly when asked "would you like fries with that."

Review K-On!! picks up right where K-On! leaves off. Thankfully, the series continues in the same idiom - it's more of the same wonderful fun.

Review All in all, this is one of the best titles I've seen in a very long time. I have watched this show 4 times, and each time I still laugh at all the same points. The English voice cast is actually pretty good, though they seem to not quite flow as well as the Japanese voice cast. The music is decent and the message hopeful.

Nudity details:

I chose a Nudity/Sexual Content rating of 3 - mostly related to a pair of characters who pretend to be gay. There are a couple of very brief underwear shots and the obligatory bikini's at the beach scenes. There is also some minor swearing as well as comic violence. Certainly nothing on the lines of even Tom and Jerry.

Review Overall this is one of my favorite titles. It has a powerful and positive message of hope that really stands out among other space westerns. Trigun is well animated with great music (Just try and find a bassist that doesn't immediately reach for his instrument when Vash's theme starts playing. XD)

Violence details:
This anime is all about gun slinging, so if this bothers you, you're likely better off finding another title.

Nudity details:
There are occasional extramarital relationships, though mostly implied. There are a couple scenes in which Vash is briefly shown stripped (one butt shot), but I would assert that these scenes are central to the plot.

Theological themes details:
The box below may spoil part of this title - do not read it if you want to experience the plot firsthand.

spoilerThere are some "otherworldly" aspects to this title - though they are generally played down. There are beings in this anime (which will eventually factor heavily into the plot) who are shown with wings - and these being provide power to the rest of the people.

Other potential "gotchas":
One of the main characters is constantly smoking. There is a small amount of cursing in some translations. Frankly, I can't really decide if I want to give this a 4 or a 3.
